COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Seasonal - April.
This intensely hoppy, ruby ale was first brewed in April 2010 for St.Georges Day. However, the label actually commemorates a lesser known hero, Dr Gideon Mantell, the original Father of Paleontology. The respected Lewes Doctor has become regarded as the person responsible for clearly identifying the prehistoric reptiles we today refer to as ‘dinosaurs’. The label depicts Dr Mantell discovering his Iguanodon near Cuckfield, in Sussex in 1821.

Cask at Christian Firtal, Odense. Amber with a lasting off-white head. Big grassy hop aroma with hints of caramel and fruit. Dryish fruity and grassy flavour with strong, resiny green tasting hops. Very bitter for the strength. Delicious beer!

Cask (handpump) at Egham Beer Festival on 23 April 2011. Good rich amber colour -not sure I’d call it ruby. Harveys are not always known for piling in the aromatic hops but don’t seem to have stinted here. As well as a firm earthy hop presence, there’s also a fair amount of sappy, grassy hop character and maybe a light, floral note too. More on the palate than in the aroma. Malt backup if fruity and vaguely nutty. Well balanced, satisfying and very drinkable. Very well put together indeed.
