| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 1, 2004 Bottled 2000. Pours pitch black with no head or carbonation. Aroma is somewhat fruity but dominated by vinegar. I thought maybe the bottle had gone bad until I read some of the other comments. Tastes include dark fruits and wine as well as the vinegar. Also as someone else wrote; Worcestershire sauce. It’s there! I really don’t know what to think about this beer. I love sour ales but this may be a little too out there for me. Perhaps I’ll try a second bottle. Definitely could use carbonation of some sort. estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 24, 2003 Updated: Jan 2, 20041999 Harvey vintage, consumed 11/03. Black body, no head, vinous nose. Flat, thick, rich oily mouthfeel, roasty malts, wine, salty, mildly bitter, alcohol in finish, cork flavors come through. Some notes reminiscent of Harvey's Elizabethan Ale - a yeast thing? Warms the belly. The lack of carbonation is a minus and perhaps due to a bad cork. (3.4 rating). Rerate 1/04: 2001 vintage. This pours with a small tan head; dark roasted nose. Much better mouthfeel than previous sample. Rich, dark, complex. dberger624 (1028), Phila, Pennsylvania, USA

When was the picture of this beer taken. Flat, Flat, Flat. No head whatsoever. Poured like syrup. The malt flavor was way to overpowering. fidel (1021), Livermore, California, USA

| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 6/20 | May 24, 2007 2003 bottle. Buyer beware. Dry cork crumbled into beer. Completely flat. Like motor oil. Might have been decent had it not suffered from aging, poor packaging, and handling. erway (1002), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA

My friend had one aswell with much less CO2 and head. This is a "Kitchen sink" of beers. Every aroma and flavor imaginable. Aromas of vanilla, burnt toast, licorice, anise, mint, and oak. Flavors add a sourness from the oak to the mix. Not much hops to speak of. I am glad I tried it. Very interesting. JonR888710 (999), Cochabamba, Bolivia
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Jan 18, 2004 Black as night, pours like spent oil. No head, no carbonation. Smells of English hops, dirt, bitter chocolate and port wine. Tastes of chocolate, earthy mud, salt, hops, soy sauce and roasted hickory. Aftertaste is dreadful, drying and deadening. Poured out the final quarter of the glass… and I had been poured only half the bottle. Don’t buy this crap. blank (998), Washington, Washington DC, USA
