India Pale Ale (IPA) is brewed to a lower original gravity and this beer undergoes a similar process of maturation to the Blue Label. The result is a lighter, more mellow ale with a distinctive hop character.

Bottled. Clear, mid-amber, with very little head. Aroma is sweet with malt and a touch of syrup. Flavours are refreshing and clean. Slightly thin, but overall there’s more going on than you expect given the low strength.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown colour with no head at all, malty and fruity aroma, the taste is a bit sour and watery, but some fruit present, with a dry finish.

Bottle at home - 16/09/12. Clear golden amber with a thin off-white head that had vanished within a minute of pouring. Orchard fruits on the nose, caramel, toffee apple, grain, cereal, buttery diacetyl notes. Tastes of damp grass, buttery, toffee, fruit. Meh ! Light bodied, quite wet, soft carbonation. Crap tbh!

250ml bottle at Royal Oak(Borough). Slightly hazy amber with a smallish off white head. Smells like pretty much nothing - very sweet a bit grassy no booze. Taste is like watery corn syrup and vaguely weedy. Thin and syrupy and quick finishing. This is in NO WAY an IPA. Poor.

No head. One of the weakest beers I’ve ever had. Stale caramel flavor. A must miss. Tried with the parents in London in 2012.

Sweet, cakey ale aroma. Clear, burnt orange color, OK label. Inoffensive, but not a whole lot of anything really going on - lightly sweet, low hopping for my taste, a bit woody. Goes flat, thin mouthfeel. Rather quick, slightly briny finish. Thanks to Triock for hauling this back from East Sussex.

Pours copper brown. Very little head. Nose is first chocolate and caramel malt and then fruit bouquet. Taste is disappointing. Very little going on. Bit of fruit, bit of caramel malt, but on the palate there is very little other than a watery and fizzy mouthful. Bit cardboardy. Worst Harveys I’ve had - just very little flavour in there. I try to keep an open mind about pasteurisation but this one’s been nuked of flavour.

Thin, watery palate. Dry hops are the main character here but it’s not really an IPA and not something I’d particularly look for again.

275ml bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. More a traditional English Pale Ale than an IPA, as used as a mixer in the traditional "Light and Bitter". Amber, little head and heavily carbonated; aroma of stewed malts; similar flavour; some reasonable dry hops to finish.
