2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 Joeh (2036) - - MAR 14, 2004
Bottled (275ml). Toffee colour, no carbonation. A drinkable low alcohol ale, fairly bitter. Not at all great but better than alcohol free lagers. Not something I would ever drink again, though.
2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 EdKing (941) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 22, 2011
Copper brown. Almost no head. Nose is odd. Sour lactic and caramel malt. Taste is lacking and a bit thin. Caramel malt is strongest, but not a lot. Bit of fruit. This is really lacking flavour for a bitter. Poor.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 kwik-lime (654) - London, ENGLAND - NOV 6, 2010
This is fine as low alcohol beers go, fairly hoppy, can’t really tell how low the alcohol content is.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 DJMonarch (9151) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - AUG 14, 2009
From the Bottle at Chris O’s, GBBF Week 09/08/2008
Malt aroma. Amber golden coloured and smooth on the palate with a crisp malt finish.
3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 SilkTork (4737) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, WALES - JUL 4, 2009
275ml bottle from the brewery shop. This has character for a light ale. Though much of the character appears to come from flavours associated with vintage beer. There are oxidised notes, cardboard, musty bitterness, damp leather, and through it all Harvey’s signature hop notes, and a touch of Brett. Fascinating! Shame the bottle is so small - it’s all gone just as I’m starting to enjoy myself.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 MiP (11783) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - SEP 5, 2008
Bottle, max 1%. Sweet malt syrup aroma. Clear amber colour. Good hoppiness in flavour, some cinnamon. Does not really taste low alcohol except for some breadiness.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 MesandSim (7109) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 28, 2008
A Mes rate: bottle at Chris O’s Post GBBF Tasting. Amber gold with no head. Sweaty feet, tobacco, heavily oxidised and some diacetyl. Tests very little like the best bitter and is in all honesty pretty rank.
1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 oh6gdx (16047) - Vasa, FINLAND - AUG 5, 2008
Bottled. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is caramel malts, some hops and nectar. Flavour is earthy, fruity, nectary and also has some slight cardboard notes.
1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20 KimJohansen (10339) - Copenhagen V, DENMARK - AUG 4, 2008
Clear golden with medium white head. Sweet and mild hoppy aroma. Sweet flavor with cardboard notes. Ends mild bitter.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Ethereal (2399) - Los Angeles, California, USA - FEB 11, 2008
275ml bottle. Copper coloured, with a toffeeish aroma. Alas, like so many of their bottled beers recently, this was afflicted with diacetyl. Beneath that, you can taste the relation to the Sussex Best. Not hoppy enough though and rather flat.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 DonMagi (5599) - bantervile, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 22, 2008
Bottle thanks to garethyoung, pickled up from the brewery. Pours entirely flat. Aroma is sweet toffee malts. Taste is similar theres some hop in here but nothign really to get me going in any fashion. Its annoying i really wanted to enjoy this beer, as i love low % beers, but i suppose you cant always have it your way.
