2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Ethereal (2399) - Los Angeles, USA - DEC 27, 2007
275ml bottle. Dark brown colour. Nutty malt aroma but let down by weak palate and light flavour. The lower strength really doesn’t help. Seek out the XXXX Old Ale on draught for a much better experience.

Bottle at Scopey’s Pre-CBC tune-up. The pour’s deep brown with a tight tan head. The nose is slightly spicy tomato chutney and raisin bread, some caramel and light chocolate. The taste is deep and malty. I taste notes of fruitcake, dark grapes and spices. Light chocolate. The body’s a bit thin and watery. Overall, decent but not particularly exciting.

Clear medium to dark red brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, bread, caramel, chocolate, licorice and wood notes, light vanilla. Flavour is moderate to light light heavy sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light metalic. 3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 EdKing (941) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 20, 2011
Pours dark reddish brown with lots of bubbles int eh glass. Reminiscent of Coca-cola. Nose is deep rich caramel malt with a little bit of roast malt in there. Taste is brown sugar maltiness, Vimto fruit, and smooth finish. Very much a mild and not a bad one at all. Very drinkable mild.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Aurelius (3146) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - NOV 24, 2010
Nice prune and whiskey/peat aroma. Very light choco-roast, slightly sweet, a little citrus, decent carbonation. Chalky body, some metal in the aftertaste. Good bottle and label. Dark brew. Interesting, pretty decent and underrated. Thanks to Triock’s Mom for hauling this back from East Sussex.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 kwik-lime (654) - London, ENGLAND - NOV 6, 2010
Dark with little head. Malty caramel taste with slightly odd fruity twang. Not too bad but the Nut Brown Ale is a better mild from the same brewery.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 peter48er (169) - Liverpool, Merseyside, ENGLAND - DEC 4, 2009
275ml bottle from the brewery via Internet. Dark brown, no head or carbonation. Very thin taste, caramel & malt nothing else of any consequence. Just very disappointing and has nothing in common with any other mild ale I have tasted.

Bottle from the brewery shop, had at home. Alround rating: sweet lightly buttery toffee/caramel, small roasted note, quite a bit of grassy bittering hop, a metallic edge which tels me that the pasturisation has completly owned this beer.
