detroitsteel (209), Greater London, England Mar 30, 2007 Updated: Apr 4, 2007 Pint at the Royal Oak, SE1.Black body, like a stout. A small, loose yellow-cream head. Smells like tar, charcoal and liquorice. More of that in the flavour with some caramel sweetness. Slightly nutty in the finish. Amazingly light bodied for such a dark, complex beer. I was suprised by how much I liked this beer.

Hansen (1828), Randers, Denmark Oct 30, 2008 Cask at EBF 2008. Not much porter over this beer. Dark brown and an off-white head, mostly diminishing. No special aroma. Flavor finish heavy bitter. larsniclas (3079), Gothenburg, Sweden Oct 4, 2008 Cask at EBF08.
Dark brown.
Metallic, somewhat artificial aroma.
Some chocolate in the flavour with a very dry bitterness. FatPhil (2408), Espoo, Finland Sep 19, 2008 Cask (EBF2008)
Hoppy aroma, certainly some Burton snatch to it (Thanks, Silk, for the nose pointers!). Beef fat taste. Lovely soft palate, both savoury but with a nice tingle. Burnt flesh. Very wacky, but rather tasty. FrankJohansen (2876), Sabro, Denmark Sep 18, 2008 Cask at EBF 2008. Dark brown colour with a very small head. Not much aroma, sweet if any. Dry taste of hops.
