COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled: 275ml only. Has occasionally appeared in cask.

Prince of Denmark is a strong, dark beer of great complexity and depth. It is based on traditional recipes from the 18th Century but has also been described as an ’Imperial Stout Nouveau’. Brown, amber and black malts are mixed with pale ale malts to give this beer its strong aroma and colouring.

A complex beer with aromas of leather, chocolate and liquorice, with a lingering taste.

Contains: Barley

This blew the cap and half the beer ended up on the table and floor. Pours a huge overflowing head that settles to nothing in 3 minutes. Nose is huge too... resin, raisins, and soya sauce. Very robust, chalky, molasses, sherry. Very delicious. Thanks Alex.

Bottle form Harveys brewery shop, Lewes, East Sussex. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Rich, sweet, roasty, dark fruit aroma. Tastes rich, slightly sweet, some coffee, dark fruit, some chocolate, smooth drinking. An excellent Imperial stout indeed.

Beese (2561) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - JUN 4, 2014
Gravity at the Battersea Beer Festival 2013. Poured a thick black, with a thin tan head. Aroma was not particularly great; stewed fruit, beef stock and liquorice. Mouth feel was pretty full. Flavours seemed rather hidden; dark fruit, chewy malt and cake. Finish was sweetened coffee, cooked apples and a slight salty note. Sadly, I don’t think was the beer at its best.

(Rating #5079)

My Bottom Line:
Within this complex Imperial Stout thrive roastiness, dark chocolate, vinous fruitiness, cookies and mild earth, a profile sealed by roasted malt bitterness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the darkness.
-The aroma is deep and alluring.
-The mouthfeel is richly sweet; this is a dessert brew, no doubt.
-There is no sign of alcohol whatsoever.
-This beer is proof you don’t need a monster of an Imperial Stout to create something complex, flavorful and on the verge of being decadent.

Bottle.

Pours black with tan head than thins. A notable aroma, freshly sawn timber. Smooth and balanced with light carbonation. A residual warmth with raisin. Probably one of the best beers from Harveys. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Opaque black - brown beer. Tidy tan head. Smooth palate, a little viscous and dry. Strong dark malt but only mild roast and bitterness. Unsweet dark chocolate and a traces of marmite and spicy bubblegum. Semi dry finish. All right!

Bottle at 8%, best before 2010, violets, faint sour plums, tobacco and black treacle on the nose, pours thick and oil-black, with a lasting fine brown head. The body brings burnt treacle and tobacco, hints of coffee and old red wine.

2015-09-15, bottle from One Pint AS, bb Dec 2010 (6+ years old?), batch CIL, 7-4-8-4-15=38
Black color with excessive brown head, extra fermentation in the bottle. Roasty, pungent, lightly sour, some dark chocolate, some astringency, a lot of character. Not too old, still good.

2012-10-07, bottle from One Pint AS, bb Dec 2010 (4+ years old?), batch CIL, 8-4-9-4-17=42
Pitch black color with majestic brown head, compact and persistent. The aroma is very interesting, with roasted malts, dark chocolate and cacao nibs, light tobacco and vanilla, light sourness, very light phenols. Smooth mouthfeel, still quite round; very good flavor of roasted malts and dark chocolate, with a light touch of Christmas spices, some molasses, tobacco, very light sour touch; correct bitterness.
Lovely.

2012-05-11, bottle at Danske Ølentusiasters Ølfestival 2012, Copenhagen
bb Dec 2010, batch CIL, 8-4-8-4-17=41

The botle is gushing a bit; black color. Sourish chocolate aroma. Smooth and rich chocolate flavor, with some light sourness; it has a vinous character.
Wonderful beer.
