4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Christian (8548) - Odense, - OCT 1, 2009
Black with a lasting tan head. The aroma is rich and complex with licorice, molasses, spices, dried fruits, cocoa, plums and port. Sweet and fruity flavour, with licorice, burnt caramel, plums, dates and figs, and a slightly roasted finish. Really lovely, almost like a dark old ale.

[275ml bottle, the Bottle Shop, Canterbury] Black, thin beige lacing. Slightly chalky, pungent aroma. Primary flavour is vegemite - huge umami component. Meaty. Coffee at the end. Despite all that, it’s quite soft in terms of mouthfeel - interesting stuff [30032012]

Bottle. Erupted out of the bottle like the volcano Eyjafjallajökull on Island. It poured a black color with a frothy tan head. Aroma is very vinous with alot of dark fruit, some old dusty notes, roasted malt and a burnt ashy taste. Flavor is of dark fruit and sweet malts, again its very vinous. You also get the roasted malt and some coffee in the finish. The body is full with a nice creamy mouthfeel. Overall a pretty good but quite sweet Imperial Stout.
