3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask at the Harp. Copper orange hue. Some fruitiness and malt sweetness in the aroma. Almost a woody quality in the flavor with a peat-like note, and a earthy bitter finish. Medium, and a bit slick.

I wasnt to pleased with this beer, i tryed the beer in a sussex pub and had seen the beer for sale everywhere in the south east so i was expecting the beer to be amazing. I found that the beer was a standard ale, the colour was great and had a nice aroma to it. i found that the taste wasnt lacking and tasted slightly watery and had a yeasty tasty left on the palate. I found it as a good benchmark bitter but not worth the recognition it had.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Dark bitter. Creamy and smooth with a mild tobacco taste. Not too bitter. Drinkable.
2011 note - wish I could remember where I had this because every one of these I have had since has been sulphury!

Cask at the Royal Oak. Almost clear amber beer. Light pale head. Light dry palate with mild fine carbonation. Light and unwelcome eggy note on the nose. Tangy malts, flirting with sour. Smooth but dry, Light bitterness. Whisper of dried fruits. It’s drinkable all right but barely passes muster. Kings new clothes and all that.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from a cask at The Plough in Horsham, UK. Deep reddish-brown in color with very thin head. The aroma is malty and fruity. A traditional bitter with a complex flavor yet subtle of balanced malts, hops, and bitterness. Goes from sweet and fruity to malts then finished off dry and bitter with a slight metallic aftertaste. Very light bodied and smooth with a lot of flavor making it very drinkable.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Archetypal English bitter - nothing that sets the world alight but it’s very well balanced, just bitter enough, easily drinkable with hints of toffee. Good beer.
