HogTownHarry (3273), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Sep 25, 2008 Cask. At Royal Oak (Borough). Clear deep amber with an average creamy mottled off-white head. Floral, dry, slightly leafy and woody aroma, caramel in the background. The taste follows - a great balance in a lighter beer, moderate floral/herbal bitterness and light toasted, slightly oaky malt. Light, smooth body, with a whisper of astringency and a medium length balanced finish - this pint was in near-perfect condition, and the beer itself is a fine multi-pint drinker. SaintMatty (515), Tallinn, Estonia Aug 20, 2008 Cask (Royal Oak,London) - Amber in colour. Malty aroma with a hint of hops and fruit. Malty and fruity taste with a light bitterness. downender (1616), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Aug 2, 2008 Cask-conditioned at the Royal Oak, SE1 1/8/08. Pale amber in colour with a moderate, off-white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, summer fruits and earthy hops. Flavour started with some fruity malt, more yeast and a long, dry finish. Very drinkable. Ethereal (927), London, Greater London, England Dec 27, 2007 Cask at the Royal Oak with Mes and reakt, 2nd Sept 2007. Crystal clear amber appearance. Ester aroma - pear drops and bananas. Very, very dry taste that lingers, giving a lip-smacking finish. Excellent pale ale. JoeMcPhee (3807), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Oct 30, 2007 Cask at the Royal Oak. Golden colour. Fairly sourish pale malt character. Lightly plasticy and a little bit cidery. Some peach and apricot but not in a good way. Earthy with a fairly sulfurous nose (similar to the Mild). Light astringency. A bit of fruit and some dirty esters. Woody finish. Meh... not for me at all.
