Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular.
Originally brewed in 1920 as Harvey's IPA with an abv of 4.7%. In the 1930's it went down to 4.0%. Then down to 3.0% during the war, but eventually settled on 3.5% in the 1950's. (In 2003 a version named Harvey's Long Man IPA in honour of the Long Man Morris Men was released.)
It is a well balanced, well-hopped bitter and was awarded First Prize at CAMRA’s Great British Beer Festival in 1990.

Every bit as good as the Best Bitter, just a little less sweet, but still full of flavour. Usually on top form in those Harvey's houses that stock it.

[Cask at the Royal Oak, Borough] Fresh hop aroma, pleasantly bitter, even better (in that occasion) than the more famous special bitter. Very good!

Cask at the Royal Oak with Mes and reakt, 2nd Sept 2007. Crystal clear amber appearance. Ester aroma - pear drops and bananas. Very, very dry taste that lingers, giving a lip-smacking finish. Excellent pale ale.

Cask at the Royal Oak, London
Amber color. Light malty and yeasty aroma. Despite the low gravity, the mouthfeel is quite full, malty. And the hopping is generous, aromatic. Good

In a festival with a very high proportion of undistinguished session beers, this one stood out. Of course, Harveys have been plying their trade for far longer than the micros largely represented here, so it's not surprising that they know how to make a good beer. There is nothing earth shattering about this, just a hint more balance and complexity than most session bitters can muster. And that is all that is required in a session bitter really. Very nice. Cask (gravity), Battersea Beer Festival.
