At brew wharf. Ruby body with small rocky head. Malty nose with wheat notes. Taste of malts, roasty and a bit oliy. Bitter with some hops in the finish.

Gravity cask in the brewery sample room. Red/brown with a good off white head. Typical mild, malty, light with very little hops. Refreshing.

Cask at the Royal Oak. Lovely dark ruby beer, but the flavour and aroma is like a loaf of bread. This style, as ever, fails to impress me. It does not surprise me that the style is almost gone. Lawnmower beer.

Cask. At Royal Oak (Borough). Deep ruby brown with a very small off-white frothy head. Mild oily roast aroma, surprisingly bitter and dry - a weak generic lightly resiny bitterness. The taste isn’t bad, oily roast, dry, the bitterness seems a bit harsh in the finish. Has a light, oily mouthfeel and a slightly harsh aftertaste - not bad, per se, but not quite there.

The Garland, Redhill. Pale ruby exuding a stagnant watery dankness. Sodden with canal and beansprout. Lick of carp. Big hop bitterness but no roast, chocolate, dark fruit or anything I associate with a mild, even at 3%. Wet biscuity afters. Doesn’t work for me at all.

Cask (Royal Oak,London) - Brown in colour with some red tinges. Sweet and malty aroma with some roasted notes. Slightly sour and malty taste. Not bad.

Cask. Low fluffy yello and quickly disappearing head. Dar red brown body. Roasted malt aroma, nothing else. Mild berries flavor with little hops bitterness, low carbonation and a short aftertaste. Boring.

Cask-conditioned at the Royal Oak, SE1 1/8/08. Dark brown in coloured with a slight, off-white head. Slight aroma of fruit and caramel. Sweet malt aroma with more fruit and a short, dry finish. Good.

Cask at The Royal Oak, Borough. Dark copper colour with a small froth. Fruity aroma and flavours, a touch of caramel towards the finish. Light-bodied. Not the most exciting mild around.

Ethereal (2417) - Los Angeles, California, USA - DEC 27, 2007
Cask at the Royal Oak with Mes and reakt, 2nd Sept 2007. Clear dark brown with a slight nutty aroma. Flavour of chocolate and bitter hops. Palate is light but flavoursome. Just right for a mild.
