Cask ESB. Deep amber color with a bubbly head that disappears fast. The nose is all about the sweet malts - raisins, citrus, treacle. The taste has floral hops, but my focus is really caught be the sour flavors: dark druits, blackberry, tangy citrus and brown sugar all reveal themselves. The palate is medium, the texture slightly oily. Overall, this is a really nice, complex ESB.

Cask at the Royal Oak, RBESG 2011. Pretty amber color with a solid head. Grat hoppy nose, citrus and minerals. Lovely clean, hoppy, and tasty flavor. Earthy, light malt but great solid hops. Some citrus and grass, and a nice, peppery bitterness.

Cask pint at Royal Oak (Borough). Lovely hazy amber with a decent frothy beige head. Somewhat sweet intensely grainy and floral aroma - taste is massively floral and bitter - true IPA bitterness levels, no alcohol and enough sweet grain to restrain. Fairly thick and chewy, Very mild carbonation but a lovely cask mouthfeel and long, impressive finish - my UK trip FINALLY starts!

Cask @ Lord Nelson, Brighton. Clear redish chestnut with some bubbles on top. Aroma is sweet malty with lots of strawberries, lingon, winegums and a whiff of nailpolish. Taste is also very sweet with lingon, strawberries, some caramel and sour and dry bitter hops. Totally flat and medium bodied. This reminds me more about lemonade spiked with some alcohol. Still quite tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Half-pint from cask@The Wharf, Aalborg. A layer of tiny beige bubbles over brilliant, dark copper colored body. A nice smell of light toasted malts and caramel, added by a scent of wet forrest and and farmyard. Dryish, sour-fruity, light malty flavor. Earthy and fruity bitterness below. Light carbonation, soft on the palate. Elegant and subtle, nice all over.

Cask conditioned handpump Royal Oak Borough . An amber coloured beer with an off-white head. This is like a stronger fruitier more peppery and minerally version of Armada and that’s a good thing for sure. A gorgeous stunningly distinctive beer which is instantly recognisable as Harveys. Beautiful.
