cask at Cask and Barrel southside ... Dark Black ... thin creamy tan head ... soft toffee roast nose ... light roast ... dark malts ... soft malts ... nice soft coffee ... ligth roast malts ... nice bitter roast

[cask at BotB2, Cask&Barrel Southside, Edinburgh] Black, with a beige head. Chocolate and mild, sweet coffee on the nose, some peanut maybe. Roasty – on the taste too – far more smooth and roasty than the other beer. Clearly, they missed the Black IPA brief with this one – it was creamy almost to the point of being an old milk stout. But styles count for nothing, I thought this beer was more interesting and had a fuller depth of flavour [02022012]

Cask by handpump at Cask & Barrel Southside, Edinburgh (2 Feb 12) - pours very dark brown with roasted malt aroma and strong coffee / chocolate flavour, bitter aftertaste

On cask at the Cask and Barrel- Southside. Pours a dark brown colour with an aroma of apple seeds, chocolate and coffee. Similar flavours with roasty malt also. Moderate carbonation. OK.
