albertane (278), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England Jun 21, 2008 This golden beer has very little head. The aroma suggests lemon zest. The flavour is dominated by citrus -- lemon particularly, but also grapefruit -- with biscuity malt and some pepper on the finish.
Pastor (260), Maine, USA Sep 5, 2008 On tap at the Pepperland served in a Tulip glass large white head that goes to a thin lace that lasts thorough the brew . The body of the brew was a pale yellow and clear.
Aromas of citrus comes out I first thought this might be a Belgian the citrus is that strong. The malts sweetness is present as well in the nose.
Not a terribly bitter brew for being called a bitter. The flavor of sweet citrus is very present. The hops make a light showing in the end note. This brew has a light mouthfeel and good carbonation.
This brew has great drinkability, and very sesionable. I had a few tonight with dinner and it was very enjoyable experience
thegreenrooster (1492), St.louis, Missouri, USA Sep 5, 2008 Pour is a blonde with a small white head. Aroma has some fruity qualities with some yeast. Flavor is bitter with mosty lemon and other citrus fruits coming out. Finish is very tart but a little watery in the end. Good for a sample but i think once most people try this they’re not going to want to get another. Quack-Duck (1756), Bodensee, Germany Sep 1, 2008 Clear bright copper-golden yellow, nice and creamy but quickly disappearing head. Fruity nose with a touch of caramel. Medium-bodied, fruity with nice hints of lemon and orange zest/orange marmalade. Dry and bitter hoppy finish. PaulHegedus (74), Brampton, Ontario, Canada Aug 31, 2008 Bottle. Golden, with citrus aromas, lemon. I taste orange, then caramel with a bitter finish. Rastacouere (5283), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Aug 27, 2008 Objectively speaking:
Classic English golden ale that has a solid malt extraction, but less of the zesty and fresh hops that I love in that type of beer.
I like:
Fresh maltiness despite the travel: bready, but also quite grainy. At 4.2%, it’s hard to ask for more. Very refreshing and to mandatorily be drank by the pint. Excellent low carbonation level.
I dislike:
As mentioned earlier, I like more citrus and flowery character in these ales.
