COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
"Bottled with approximately 1/3rd less Carbon Dioxide than most beers. This results in a fresher more natural tasting beer. Combines Hallertau Hersbrücker with Challenger. Late hopped with Styrian Goldings, which gives a sharpness like the twist of a lemon."

Amber to straw in color. Adequately carbonated, out of the bottle. Little or no head. Light-bodied with aroma of pine and citrus, some toffee or butterscotch. This beer is hops dominated and very refreshing. Malt and yeast stay in a background role. Finish is clean, well-balanced and dry. This is an English ale for pilsener fans, hoppy, dry and light - but still distinctly British ale.

Bottle, 500 ml. Pours clear light amber with minimal head. Heavy citrus note dominates the nose as expected, leaning towards lime rather than lemon from what I can tell. Some malty side notes of caramel and honey are also present, as well as hints of grass and something floral, but a bit one dimensional aroma-wise. Citrus notes are thankfully much less dominant in the taste, with them blending in well with the now more prevalent sweet malty notes initially, and then coming to the forefront again for the quite bitter finish, balancing things out nicely. Couple more fruity notes arise here, perhaps pineapple. Inoffensive on the palate with low carbonation and a thin to medium body that isn’t too watery. Decent stuff.

500ml bottle into a nonic. Pours a slightly hazy light copper-ish gold with a very thin white head. Just the smallest bit of lacing with a bit of soapy head retention. Aroma of toffee and pear with a hefty note of grass and flowers. Almost a bit of a tartness in the aroma. The flavor is dark bread, caramel, and some toffee and toast. More grass and floral notes along with the same tartness I picked up in the aroma. Fairly high and sharp bitterness for this style. The beer finishes clean, however, with a thin and watery mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good English Bitter but it also doesn’t have much to make it stand out. I do enjoy the bitterness which I feel is a little more than in other examples of this style.

Hoppy aroma, fruity. Cloudy golden colour with good head. Definitely bitter, but has a smooth citrusy finish. Light body with low carbonation.

More than averagely hoppy golden ale with Challenger, Styrian and Hersbrücker and intended lower carbonation than usual for the style. Stable, sticky, off-white head, colour a warm ’old gold’ with quiet sparkling, cristal clear. Malty aroma of caramel and walnuts, bread, unripe peach, young cheese, freshly cut grass, orange zest, lime peel, thyme, carrots, tonic water. Nicely rounded taste with citrus freshness and indeed mild carbonation, smooth palate, caramelly and bready maltiness, ending in a quite assertive, rooty and peppery hop bitterness, long and dry. Interesting ale, quite refreshing.

Bottle. Not so bitter, light caramel sweetness. Aroma is a bit hoppy but taste is kind of sweet. Malt dominates. Maybe past its best?

Simple appearance, bubbly head. Grainy, zesty, herbs, simple. Taste is better, nice and bitter. Overall a bit boring, although the palate is excellent. Especially a well made but boring aroma. (33cl bottle from Saveur Bière)
