3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mikkopen (520) - Oulu, FINLAND - APR 5, 2012
330 ml bottle. Clear dark reddish brown colour, thin off-white head. The aroma is slightly roasted, sweetish caramel malty, with some floral hops and citrus. Flavour of roasted, caramelly malt, notes of dark fruits, and a nicely bitter, slightly citrusy hoppy finish. Tasty, especially considering the low alcohol content.

Keg at the Rake. It pours deep brown, with a thin beige head. The nose is caramel, medicinal, liquorice root and some citrus. The taste is caramel, liquorice, digestive biscuit, toffee as it warms up, leather, metal and medicinal (herb and spice), with a long, dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not bad.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 blafa (505) - Helsingborg, SWEDEN - MAR 11, 2012
Draft at Bishop Arms - Marina. Helsingborg, December 2011.
Pours deep red, almost brown. Aromas of spices, cherries, grapes and rich malts. Lighter body with a spicy taste of malts and flavours of red berries, almost a bit vinous. Very peculiar hoppines in this one. Slightly sweet with a soft long finish. I found it great!
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Powertrip (844) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 19, 2012
Single bottle purchased from a Co-op Liqour Store in Calgary, AB on 12/27/2011. Colour: Chocolate brown with minimal head. Nose: Lots of melted creamy chocolate malt, light floral hint...kind of quiet beyond that. Taste: Medium-light sweet, medium bitter, light sour. Flat and even grainy coffee mix from start to finish. Mere specs of toffee way off in the distance. The label says "crisp.clean.citrus". Citrus? Where?
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 berkshirejohn (3020) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 10, 2012
33cl bottle from Wine Rack, Ascot. Looking at some of the recent reviews it seems that the UK and export versions of this beer are very different - according to my bottle "This copper coloured beer is brewed with pale and crystal malts with a touch of roast barley. The hop additions are Challenger for bitterness and Stryian for its floral citrus aroma. A balanced and very moreish beer."
Anyway, mine pours a very unattractive hazy amber colour with a ring of white head; the aroma has orangey citrus notes, but is also slightly musty; there’s an orangey taste as well, with some rather flabby hops providing moderate bitterness and a spicy edge to the finish.
Overall this is a rather mediocre offering - makes me wonder what the export version with chocolate malt is like.

Bottle, out of my Hennepin glass. Pours clear brown; 1-finger pale tan head, spotty lacing. Nose is sweet and lightly hoppy, with light notes of leather and tobacco. Flavours of tarrry tobacco, raisins, sweet toffee, some smoke. Alright, but I doubt I’d go out of my way to buy it again.
