Aroma: Straw and earthy notes.

Appearance: Clear golden body with a small white head. No carbonation. Excellent lacing.

Taste: Light citrus, verging on sour. Earthy and a little soapy. Lingering bitter finish.

Palate: Thin to medium body with a very oily mouthfeel. Flat carbonation.

Overall: A solid, decent golden ale, but it’s not special or memorable. Very light at just 4.0% ABV.

A creamy, hoppy and almost flowery pint with a sharp bitter finish and a subtle aroma that made me think the beer was going to be blander than it was.

Cask by handpump at Drum & Monkey, Glasgow - clear yellow amber, thin bubbly off-white head, fruity citrus hop aroma, no lacing, grapefruit and tropical fruit flavour, but thin, prolonged bitter citrus aftertaste

Cask. Pale blonde/straw colour, white head. Sweet, lemony aroma, lemon on the tongue and some sweetness and some hoppy bitterness. I believe it was served too warm. As a result it wasn’t refreshing and not very enjoyable. A decent beer, though, I believe.

Half, cask, hand-pump dispense at Drum & Monkey. Patchy white head. Near-clear golden body. Restrained smell of herbal hops and earthy malts. Resinous hops to the taste buds added by biscuit malts. Rounded, dry bitter tail. Nice (Glasgow, 11.04.2012).

[cask at Hector’s, Edinburgh] Pours slightly hazy brilliant gold, with a decent white head. Zesty lemon on the nose. Bitter lemon fruit on the flavour, quite dry and citric, leading to a bitter hoppy finish. Quite crisp, decent golden ale [20012012]

tombyars (1205) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - JAN 5, 2012
Tasted this in the Saltcot, Saltcoats (JDW) in May 2007. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale straw in colour with a thin white head. Zesty lemon in the short aroma. Thin resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a thin insipid base with a weak citric tang. Dry floral hops add a citric bitter note to the aftertaste. Finish is short and watery with a whiff of fruit. Is this Dragonfly rebadged? Another poor Golden Ale effort.
