Aroma is coppery chocolate coated with weak Avery Beast brown sugar and whisky. Flavor is upfront chalky oak with bits of peaty earth and a whisky drip finish. Average mouthfeel. Good, but flavors seem off. Not sure how much influence the age of the wood has but based on my ratings, I say the younger the wood the better in this case. Hank1980 (448), Athens, Georgia, USA Dec 9, 2008 Cask at Aromas. Pours black, small tan head. Aroma of whiskey, malt, chocolate, light alcohol, oak, vanilla. Very complex. Taste is also heavy on whiskey, though more of the malt flavors are present. Oak, vanilla, and molases are all present. Very full mouth. Very nice slow drinking beer.
