Aroma reminds me of a nitrogen carbonation, but has a nice edge of Carmel and slight smoke. Has a small head with off white carbonation, with an oily looking surface. Taste is smoky and Carmel filled, but falls off quickly.

On tap somwhere! Opaque black beer. A little glue in the light malt nose but nothing too off putting. Softish palate. Rich dark malt, something sour. A little wood. Very warning finish. A little minerals and coffee coming through. Perfect beer on a bitterly cold day, which today happens to be.

Bottle number 08786, Sept 2007 bottle date. Fantastic. Wonderful whisky aroma and flavors of peat and dirt and earthy roastiness. Greatly hides the abv. Very smooth. Awesome.

Cask at Holyrood 9A. Deep black, thin but persistent beige head. Smooth chocolate and whiske nose, hint of liquorice. Palate is thick and incredibly smooth, massive liquorice, dark chocolate and a big whisky hit. Finish is huge whisky, dry roast malts and more liquorice. I like this a lot.

[cask at Holyrood 9A, Edinburgh] Beer pours a deep, limpid black with a beige head. Sweet, syrupy whisky aroma. Flavour of oaky whisky, roasted chocolate malt, and caramel. Alcohol warmth comes through on the finish. There’s some milky chocolate in the aftertaste, before the whisky heat arrives and begins to dominate

cask at 9A ... deep black ... thin tan head... soft chocolate roast ... toffee malts nose...deep roast malts ... big chocolate ... light bitter chocolate ... big whiskey .... mellow ... but quite powerfull whiskey... glat to gtry ... but this isnt working today ... too much whiskey

On cask at The Holyrood 9A. Pours a very dark brown colour with no head. A huge whiskey aroma upfront. The Highland Park 12 year old malt is very prominent with honey, plums, raisin and alcohol and a little roasty malt and chocolate also. Similar flavours with whiskey upfront again. Mild carbonation and a nice woody, coconut finish.

(Gravity cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 25 Nov 2011) Dark brown colour, almost black, with brief beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dark bread, coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice and vinous aromas of whisky. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, raisins, gentle coffee notes, hints of whisky and a mild bitterness in a warming finish. Full body, rounded mouthfeel, with a certain sweetness. Superbly balanced. Lovely beer!

Cask at the White Horse Old Ale festival 2011, Parsons Green, London. A black coloured pour with virtually no head. Sweet, boozy aroma. Tastes roasty, caramel, some sweetness, whisky, malty. Rich and warming, very nice.
