This is a special brew. Super malty with major scotch overtones. Rare beer that should be enjoyed whenever you see it.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours opaque coffee sable with a fine-bubbled tan head. Whisky-soaked wood is the headliner of the aroma, while roast malt, molasses (should I say treacle?) and a bit of coffee serve as backup performers. Flavor delivers whisky, roast malt, woody, molasses and subtle coffee notes - this is a rich brew that one should sip s-l-o-w-l-y and savor. Is a bit on the sweet side, though. Mouthfeel presents viscous, heavy body and good fizz.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dep black color crowned by a tiny, creamy tan head.
The aroma boasts of caramel, coffe and nutty notes combined with a subtle idea of standing in a humid fall forest.
The flavour is extremely soft and creamy, offering burnt coffe beans, hints of vanilla and toffee and for sure the unresistible whisky note.
This well balanced beer will please lovers of cream whiskys as well.

Cask at SRAF (I am not sure if it was this version as the staff didn’t know..). Pours black, no head, slightly oily. Nose is whisky, peat, wood, roasted malts. Taste is full, roasted, chocolate, whisky (less than in aroma), wood. Very nice.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
2012 Vontage cellared for 3 years. Pours a pitch black topped a timid fizzy tanned head showing low retention and leaving no lacong. The nose is robust with dark chocolate, alcohol and oak. The taste has two phases: First comes that dark chocolate and sweet booze giving off lots of toffee, but then it drops quite abruptly and you’re palate is taken over by a rich smoked/burnt oaky feature that just throws you into another realm of flavours. Full bodied, the bitterness is not overwhelming even if people less familiar with smokey beers might find it to expressive. This brew is challenging with its two distinct dimensions. Excellent product. Cheers!

Appearance – Served a pitch black brew with no head.
Smell -Oaky and roasty aromas were the heaviest. Mixed with these were some good notes of whiskey, a lighter smoke and some chocolate.
Taste – The taste begins with flavors of roasted malt as well as some chocolate. Flavors of oak and a light whiskey flavor quickly come to the tongue. While the whiskey starts out lighter it grows stronger thought the taste. While the whiskey intensifies, some dark fruit flavors and a bitter herbal flavor come to the tongue. In the end with increases in both the whiskey and roasted flavors, a very satisfying dark boozy flavor is left to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer was on the creamier and smoother side with a very low level of carbonation due to the cask nature of the pour. Nice for the style, although I think I may have been one I would have enjoyed with a bit more carbonation (I should try and find a bottled version).
Overall – Quite tasty and well worth a try. It had a nice roasted and whiskey flavor with all the flavors melding well throughout the taste experience.

Very nice aroma - caramel, brown sugar, and vanilla. Pours with a nice light brown single finger head that held well. Taste is complex with many flavors coming through. Alcohol content is not overpowering at 11%, but does show itself. Overall, I would drink this many times over.
