nbutler11 (729), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Aug 10, 2008 Poured like espresso from the bottle with a tirm head of tan foam that quickly dissapates. Brimming with the flavors of smoke and pete. Syruppy body with plenty of heat on the finish. drfabulous (1212), Columbia, Missouri, USA Aug 3, 2008 Very unlike the bourbon aged beers I’ve come to like. Strong taste of scotch whiskey greets you as you smell the beer. The taste lingers throughout the stout. Not like anything I’ve had before. Still trying to work out some of the flavors. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 31, 2008 33cl, bottle no 11322, Sept 07. Opaque black with the creamiest, lasting inch of non-nitro head you’ll ever see. Smoky-sweet aroma of chocolate, molasses, and hickory-smoked pork. Flavor is a superb blend of the same with some dark fruit, vanilla, charred oak barre, caramel and whiskey. Heavy body is smoooooth and lightly oily, with just enough warming and drying on the finish. Brilliant sipper that could be a gulper. I didn’t give this one a 5.0 because Nirvana is the only place for that, but oh my Buddha.... jeffwilliams11 (310), hooterville, Michigan, USA Jul 27, 2008 bottle number 3630, brewed sept 07.
heavy aroma of whisky and chocolate/coffee. fairly syrupy, a little sweet, but balanced out well by the bite of whisky. flavor changes about three times as the glass warms closer to room temp. yum... Odeed (1666), Bakersfield, California, USA Jul 25, 2008 (bottle no.1986,brew date sept. 2007)black body with a small tan head.aroma is heavy alcohol, chocolate, smoke, and roasted malts.flavor is heavy smoke, burnt wood, chocolate, with a malty finish.its different if anything. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Jul 21, 2008 PIB 2008. Pours dark brown, almost black, with just a trace of a tan head that is gone before you know it. Big roasty flavor, take over by a warming scotch flavor. Earthiness brings out the smoked flavors. mar (1740), Rowlett, Texas, USA Jul 19, 2008 bottle thanks to bhops. black pour with an espresso head. roasted malts and vanilla on the nose. roasted malts and sweet vanilla overtone throughout the whole beer from start to finish. not bad but the 16 was way better. Bhops (329), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 19, 2008 Pours black with no head. Aroma of molassas, sweet malts and hint of vanilla. Flavor is all molassas with some smoke, roasted malts and scotch. Medium mouthfeel. Good beer but I prefer the 16 and the 30.
