Black color with no head. Aroma of dark fruits, molasses, coffee, caramel, smoke, chocolate, cookies. Taste is light to medium sweet with dark fruit flavor and smoke. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Nice old ale

330 mL bottle. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aromas of salty peat, oak, wood smoke, black cherry, fig and Dr. Pepper. Moderately sweet and richly bodied; lightly carbonated with a slick, saline mouth feel. Very complex, but well rounded. A must try for fans of whisky, wee heavies or old ales.

Wow was a great beer. A very strong taste to it, and long lasting taste, but well balanced that makes you keeping wanting more until next thing you know the bottle is empty.

Pours an extremely dark shade of mahogony brown, approaching light black with a good sized tan head.
Nose is rich dark caramel fudge, treacle toffee, dark malts, woody tones, trace of Scotch, brown sugar.
Taste comprises light smoke, treacle toffee, fruit cake mix, demerara sugar,
Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation pitched perfectly to leave a smooth massging feeling on the throat.
Overall a great BA old ale, everything is kept in check and nothing overpowers.

Color is deep mahogany - almost black - with a thick mocha colored head.
Nose has smoke, chocolate, vanilla and dark fruit.
Very softly carbonated, medium oily body, a little watery and with a short lived bitter aftertaste.
Wooden sweet flavor with chocolate, vanilla, peat, smoke. Whiskey notes are present but not predominant. Very nice old ale.

330 ml bottle sampled in 2010. Dark brown, almost black with a small, dense beige head. Aroma has whisky, oak, peat and roast. Flavor is sweet roasted malt, peat, whisky, oak and pleasant bitterness. Fine body and a long aftertaste. A really fine and pleasent, not too intense whisky oaked beer.

Bottle at the John=Jim Den Haag tasting, Den Haag. Poured a deep, very dark mahogany with a thin tan head. The aroma is rich and peaty. The flavour is huge bitter, lots of liqourice and dark chocolate. The bitterness is alcoholic, but well controlled. A superb beer.
