3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
I really dig Highland Park whisky and I always have a bottle of Highland Park 12yr in my cupboard, So I am very excited about this brew! Pours a deep rich murky black body and a wispy tan head. The aroma notes of roasted malts, coffee, coco and largely suggests the peat smoke and whisky barrel. I enjoy the way that the Whisky barrel interacts with the characters of the old ale in the flavor. Seems like less oxidation on the beer, but I’m sure it’s just the whisky overpowering the roasty oxidized malts. The palate is sticky and oily, a bit gritty. Finishes dry yet molasses sweet. A fine brew indeed!

Bottle from Booths, Ilkley. A thick oily black beer with rich creamy chocolate and whisky flavours, vanilla and currant notes with smokey oak and liquorice on the warming tart red fruity finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Good for a British beer. Some sweet mollasses, oak, and whiskey are the dominant flavors but for 8% is does come across watery and bland as is the British way.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured a very dep black with a medium head full of whiskey notes. Very light whispy head. Dark dark malts in the mouth with a slight hint of the whiskey. As the glass warms up, the whiskey becomes too much on a hot summer night. Much more a winter beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20

bottle, this is interesting, it is dangerously approachable, the drinkability increases after every sip, Sweet and roastyness mixed with that trademark highland park scotch flavors.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
330 ml bottle from STLWill - thanks again, Will! September 2007 vintage, bottle 19501. Pours a deep, opaque brown with a small beige head. Notes of very rich chocolate and fudge, vanilla, soy, peat, oak, leather, and earth. Peaty finish, which lingers. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a rich, smoky, semi-sweet mouthfeel. Sweeter on the nose. I liked this more than anticipated, and get the idea I’d like other versions and newer vintages better. Definitely coming back to this series.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
@ twisted kilt NYC. Pours dark black. Aroma was a bit weak but had some malt and whiskey. Taste was the same but I was expecting bolder flavors. Been waiting some time to try this and was a bit disappointed.
