3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I am not a big whiskey guy, but I do love whiskey barrel aged beers. This is no different. Nice dark and viscous. Beautiful dark malt, smoke, and vanilla nose from the scotch. The taste is a nice harmony of beer and scotch, especially as it warms. Vanilla, dark bitter chocolate and that boozey smoke taste.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Decent roasted malts, smoked, bit wood, licorice. Sadly few beers ago I had very intense smoked brew, so now this feels as that smokeds little brother.
Decent brew, but nothing special.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Clear, dark, ruby red. Thin halo of tan, for a head. Smoky, treacly, bonfire toffee. Milk chocolate. Light woodiness. Taste is cocoa sweet. Light dry. Light, smoky bitter. Palate is a bit thin, in comparison to the big aroma and flavour. Finishes treacle sweet, with a woody, dry close.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The pour is black with virtually no head. The aroma is molasses, toffee, some old furniture, dark fruits, roasted barley, and a bit of soil. The alcohol is initially undetectable but grows more evident by the time the beer reaches its ideal temperature. The taste is sweet with some roasted bitterness. Earthy hops show up toward the end. The palate is medium with very slight carbonation, but certainly not flat. Maybe not as special as the number 18 suggests, but still lovely.
