COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ola Dubh (or "Black Oil") is so named because it is gloopy and viscous. This limited release has been matured in casks from Orkney’s award-winning Highland Park distillery to add complimentary whisky notes to what is already an amazing brew. It is chocolatey with a roasty, bittersweet aftertaste. Special Reserve 18, whisky notes: Highland Park 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky was named Best Spirit in the World by F. Paul Pacult; it offers toffee sweetness, almond nuttiness and a prolonged, smoky aftertaste.

Totally black, medium beige head. Strong aroma of liquorice, cocoa, soy sauce, roasted malts, vanilla and smoked wood. Taste is very rich, complex and perfectly balanced, it’s quite sweet, moderate dry and slightly salty. Full body. Minimal carbonation. Incredibly tasty beer! One of the most complex and full of taste beer I’ve ever tried.

Very strong whisky nose, beautiful brown body. A perfect mix between beer and whisky aromas, very well balanced indeed. Could be a bit on the stout side, but overally very good!

Bottle at home, 25th January 15. Pours dark, a little head. Aroma is smoke, whiskey, some leather. The taste is peat, whiskey, some chocolate and ash, palate is medium, not as luxurious as I imagined, feels a little light. Good beer and an easy sipper

0,33l fles gedeeld met bryanvdv. Zwart met een bruine schuimkraag. Geur is zoet en ziltig met karamel en whisky. Smaak is drop, salmiak en koffie. Er goed bier, wel duur voor wat je krijgt.

33cl bottle at home. Very dark brown with a very small beige head. Medium to full body with low carbonation. Medium sweetness with a subtle bitter tones. Dark chocolate, raisin, coffee, caramel, peat, vanilla, spices and herbs. A great tasty brew! But not as good as the 21 year old version.

Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a dark mahogany with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is rich roast malt, peat, earthy, light alcohol. The flavour is strong to moderate bitter with a big dry roasty, peaty alcohol, coffee dark chocolate, light red berry fruit palate. Full bodied with soft carbonation and a light oily mouthfeel. The best Ola Dubh for me!

Bottle from Deconinck, Vichte. Dark brown/black colour, small layer of dark beige foam. Aroma of coffee and roasted malts with subtle aftertaste of whisky. Some notes of vanilla and berries. Very well balanced. Not boozy or over the top. Very well done.

Pour from bottle in Killeen Texas. Deep walnut with no head. Carries a heavy scotch flavor. Definitely good, and an experience worth your while, ola dubh is a unique smokey twist on beer that is not to be missed. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

11.2 oz. bottle at home. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma is smoky peat, chocolate, whiskey, wood, dark fruit. The flavor has some roast, dark fruit, and chocolate with a big dose of peat and scotch whiskey, wood, not my thing really, but this is better than some scotch barrel beers.
