3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Impressive bottle that makes the beer look like you need to buy. Pours a tar black but thin. Brown lingering head. Scents of licorice and dark chocolate. Smoke smokey notes but not overpowering. Starts off thin on the tongue. Maybe because I’m use to the imperial stouts. That have lots of residual sugars. Smokey taste right off the bat and a lingering licorice. After taste. Alcohol not very high but I do get bourbon notes as well. It seems like there is something missing but I can’t put my finger on it. Overall I would suggest trying another for it’s price tag is not worth the taste. My opinion.

Sensacional cerveja escocesa, álcool presente e perceptível no palato, se misturando com a madeira, café e chocoalte dos maltes, um corpo perfeito, licoroso, baita cerveja !

Like they say in the description the stuff has the motor oil colour going for it that you see in many IMP stouts. About a finger of tan head perks up once your pour it. Smell kind of reminds of bourbon BA stouts, hints of oak and vanilla, bits of smoke as well. Wow, this works really well, up front is sweet and it finishes with a nice smokey aftertaste that’d you’d expect from a glass of scotch.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours dark with a minimal tan head that fades to a ring. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malt, soy sauce, and bourbon. Taste is soy sauce, tobacco, roasted malt, some char, smoky roast and bourbon goodness. The bourbon flavor really shines in this one. Excellent.

Bottle, march 5th 2013. All black body. Thin tanny head. Roasty and woody aroma, prunes and raisin. Massive complex taste of roasted malt, coffee, leather, prunes and oak. Warm swallow, high bitterness, ever present dark malts, finish with dark chocolate, fruit and alcohol, with a lasting roasty aftertaste.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black white mild tan head. Aroma is lovely mild whiskey smell intertwined with rich malts. Taste is significantly better flavour than 16yr old. Richer and subtler. Palate is vegemite finish - yuck. Overall, too much of the vegemite flavour for me, but still a very interesting brew.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black with a modest tan head.that hangs around well. Aroma of nut oil, smoke, blackberries, vanilla, chocolate, a breath of alcohol - like all the variants, smells fabulous and pretty much endlessly intriguing. Oily mouthfeel (duh), very low carbonation. Bittersweet chocolate, dark berries, smoke, lots of nuts, treacle, soy sauce. Another very good beer, but another one I like less than ordinary Old Engine Oil - the beer’s a bit overtaken by all those nuts.
