Consistent with the core Ola Dubh range, the 1991 Vintage is deep dark brown, dense and oily; the nose is redolent of soy and molasses with winey overtones and a gentle, earthy, hop aroma. The 1991 Vintage is somewhat sweeter than its counterparts and has delicious smoky-sherry notes on the palate, the flavours deriving at least as much from the whisky-infused-wood as the spirit itself. As expected from its higher strength, this is a bigger and bolder number than its siblings.

UPDATED: JUL 8, 2013 Bottle. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Aroma is peat, roasted malt, soy sauce and a touch of chocolate. Taste is very boozy. Scotch is prominent and some sweetness on the finish. Mouthfeel is a touch light for the style and has a strong carb. Pretty unique. The scotch is really a nice touch. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle #1439. Pours black with very little head that collects at the edges and grabs the glass well. Nice complex aroma of soy, smoke, earthy hops, vanilla, roasted malt and light whiskey. Taste is moderately sweet with lots of soy, whiskey barrel notes, and smoke. Spicy and earthy hop kick in the finish. Well balanced beer. Thin to medium body, oily slick mouthfeel. Overall, it’s really good stuff. A little thin but goes down so easy for the high abv.

Bottle at home courtesy of Ewan at harviestoun, cheers sir!
Dark coffee with tan head. Fairly sweet nose, caramel, sherry, lactose, camp coffee, on swirling some meaty umami and iodine. Thick, mouthfilling with gentle carbonation and sweet red berries up front followed by a cornucopia of flavour. Dry toasty malt, astringent wood, meaty booze sweet vanilla, coconut appears on nose, dark cocoa, latte, both sweet and savoury, iodine whisky, dry woody notes, rich caramel. The booze very well hidden but creeps up on you with a knockout blow. Long rich dry finish. Fab
