Aroma has alot of oak, vanilla, chocolate, peat, whiskey and light roast. Taste is chocolate, light roast, oak and vanilla, peat, and whiskey. Medium bodied, all malts integrate seemlessly and balance each other very well. Very nice. scraff (1955), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 3, 2008 Black, light tan creamy head. Intense whiskey and oak aromas warm to notes of smoked coconut and hints of mild coffee. Powerful oaked whiskey and dark chocolate ashy flavors expand to further notes of peat smoke and vanilla coconut. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Great brew without a doubt, but just a touch over the top in my opinion. Still should be one to seek out if possible. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 30, 2009 Updated: Feb 1, 2009Bottle 23747, dated Sept 2007. Pours black with orange edges and thin tan head. The aroma is light peat smoke, chocolate, vanilla, oak, and some light coffee and cherry notes. The flavor is semi-sweet chocolate, vanilla, toasted oak, very light peat, and lots of mellow fruity tones. The Scotch character is obvious, but not at all overwhelming. This has got to be one of the most balanced whisky-barrel beers I’ve had. The finish is lightly floral coffee with a fresh Scotch aftertaste. Very well done. swoopjones (1932), Buffalo, New York, USA

Another opaque black pour with the creamiest, inch thick head this side of nitro. Aroma is smoky, piquant hickory with caramel, vanilla and cocoa. Flavor is smoky hickory, caramel, vanilla and milk chocolate turning to sherry and cured tobacco. Medium-heavy body is smooth, sticky, and slightly drying on the finish. If this (and the other O. D.s) weren’t so expensive I could drink it till I drowned.
