TheCheeseMan (515), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA Jul 14, 2008 Courtesy of SoLan. Pours an opaque black. Aroma is an elegant melange of wood and peat, smoke and sweet. While not a Scotch fan per se, the aroma of the whisky barrel is beguiling. The flavor is well integrated, with all the components balanced harmoniously, creating a great beer. I liked this better than the 12, though no where near as much as the 16.

Pitch dark, little carbonation.
Tar, coffee, oaky vanilla. Smooth, extremely well belended. The coffee is dominating, the whisky is not very promionent in the end product. ThomasE (5075), Copenhagen, Denmark Nov 21, 2008 Deep brown, black colour with a beige head. Molasses sweet, light roasted and fruity aroma with wood notes. Malty, sweet and vague roasted flavor with fruity and oaky notes. santoslhalper (252), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 18, 2008 Thanks to Paul for sharing! Pours an inky black with no head. Strong oak and molasses aroma that’s heavy on the alcohol. Some fig, rum and raisin notes as well. Thick and chewy in the mouth. Lots of chocolate and oak with amazing depth and complexity of character. Incredibly oaky and strong tasty with an aftertaste like a fine whisky. I never would have guessed the ABV was only 8%. This is really a treat, a great sipper, and possibly the perfect nightcap.
