Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered.
A superb, rich, full-bodied beer derived from a 1970s homebrewing recipe. Wickedly smooth chocolate dominates the flavour, which is nicely balanced by the bitterness of the hops.

This was an ale? It was exactly like a stout. And a good stout at that! Black body with medium, lasting tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Thick and creamy. Bitter, especially on the finish. I have to say that I enjoy this one.

Pours black with very little (brown) head; sweetish, slightly roasted aroma with chocolate notes; medium body, oily (fittingly enough) mouthfeel; flavor of roasted/burnt malt and chocolate; bittersweet, burnt aftertaste.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Norm’s, 1/28/10

Aroma: Lots of coffee and roasted malts on the nose, a bit of chocolate, and some bread
Appearance: Pours a black (lets call it oil like) color, with a foamy light brown head, leaves some sheet lace
Flavor: Taste has some sweet malts, lots of dark malts and burnt malts, touch of hops
Palate: This one is a medium-full bodied beer with a creamy texture to it
Overall Impression: I like this beer. It drinks pretty nicely. It is quite smooth and drinkable, despite the level of fullness that it has. Lots of roasted flavor dominates this beer. Its enjoyable.

Pours Deep black with a nice tan head. Nice mellow malty attack, followed by a mellow bitter finish. Really nice beer, you have to sip it though, you can drink this beer too fast. Take your time.

Soul searchingly dark with a thin tan head that dissipates rather quickly. Sweet well rounded beginning with good chocolate flavor that settles into a warm roasty flavor that really fills the palate and is very pleasing. Long bittersweet finish that leaves you craving the next sip Very good brew...not a usual fan of black ales or stouts, but this exceeded my expectations by far.

THis stuff was great. Has a nice thick body that holds onto the palate well, the swallow on this one lasts for a good long while. Dark flavors of roasted nuts and a thick hearty roast complex. Good stuff, wish they sold it more places.

Pours solid black with a light brown head. Aroma is milk chocolate, roast malt and vanilla. Taste is heavy roast/burnt malt and dark chocolate. Thick chewy body, great balanced taste.

Pours near black, perhaps very very dark brown with brown head. Nose has a clean, marshmallowy roastiness at first. Start to notice some baking chocolate too after a few whiffs. On the palate is baker’s chocolate, spirity/alcohol, and a smooth chocolate finish. The chocolate comes across in a dry way - not very sweet. Finish is a little chalky and alcoholic.
