And when I answer, you will know that you’ve pressed 2 enough... coyotehunter (542), , Michigan, USA Apr 1, 2009 Pours almost black, with a somewhat astringent aroma. Chocolate shows itself in the smell, but alcohol is definitely in the forefront. Milk chocolate dominates the taste. Slight hop note in the finish, with a funky aftertaste thats not very good. chops (60), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Mar 29, 2009 330 ml Bottle from LCBO.
chocolatey bitter flavours, great aroma. tastes quite bland. deceivng. tastes more like cooking oil than engine oil. BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA Mar 28, 2009 Bottle. Poured black with a creamy tan head that slowly settles to a ring and left light lace. Burnt malt aroma. The flavor found milk chocolate, coffee, nut, and a slight roast. Medium body and a light roast coffee aftertaste. mickmac (67), Ngunnawal, Australia Mar 26, 2009 Pours with an average creamy light brown head and a black colour. Heavy burnt chocolate-coffee aroma. A tar-charcoal- slightly hoppy taste that is overwhelmed in the finish with a heavy astringent bitterness and heavy-harsh black malt flavour. flatmatt (221), Northville, Michigan, USA Mar 25, 2009 330 mL bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Moderate aroma of chocolate and smooth roasty coffee. Flavor is grapes and raisins, chocolate, and roastiness in a medium strength body. Excellent finish brings out some hops and some roasty coffee to compliment the dark fruits and chocolate. ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Mar 23, 2009 Dark viscous black pour. Thin tan head and spotty lace. Fresh roasted coffee on the nose. Creamy mouth-feel, medium bodied. Chocolate, vanilla and coffee. Slightly bitter finish. Solid beer, I wish I would have tried it before today! jfenglish (198), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 20, 2009 Bottle. Birthday beer. Looks like it’s name- black, with a head of brown cream. Rich, full aroma- coffee, vanilla, coconut. Flavor not as full as aroma though. Thin first taste, then some serious bitterness. Not terribly complex flavor- just plain old bitterness dominates. Started good, but ended 1-dimensional. Going against the grain on this one.
