Aroma of chocolate with some malt in the background. Very smooth on the palate...almost unexpectedly so. Chocolatey notes with a slight bitterness at the end. Nutty undertones as well. Very good. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 3, 2008 very well balanced. bottle. pours black with copper highlights. very thin to no head. aroma is very faint smells mostly of chocolate and smoke. starts with a tingle as to suggest alot of carbonation but the head says otherwise. but urgently turns to a silky chocolate and then a smoky hop flavor that lasts. after the bottle i noticed my mouth was really dry. i dont know what that means so i wrote it. overall i think it would make a great day to day beer.

Roasted maltiness and some coffee bitterness up front. Finish is of bitter, burnt maltiness.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Opaque thick looking pour with frothy tab head that dissipates quick. Smells of chocolate, malt, licorice, coffee. Very balanced taste, but expected it to be heavier. Kind pd where guiness meets a craft. Medium to thin mouthfeel with clean finish and some drying hop. Roasty. Little sweet. Have had worse. Great drinkability. Not had too many old ales but seems stouty to me. @ $4 an 11.2 oz this will be first and last taste of this one but glad I tried. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 19, 2008 Black pour with brown head. Nose is full of dark roast. Roasty chocolate in the flavor. Medium chewy body with a bitter chocolate finish. Decent beer just not worth the $4 pricetag. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 19, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. Full-bodied my ass. Roasty and bitter nose. Yes, it smells bitter. Some dark chocolate, but let down by the huge description, and the nothing to follow it up. bierkoning (6018), La Tropica, Netherlands
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 18, 2008 Bottle from Lithy. Almost black and opague. Dark chocolate, roast, caramel and apple syrup in the aroma and flavor. Hint of licorice. Creamy and velvety. Sweet, delicious but not too complex.
