rodenbach99 (676), Longueuil, Quebec, Canada Sep 24, 2009 bouteille de 330ml. acheté à la SAQ. Bière noire, visqueuse, mousse beige durable, nez de torréfaction, bouche amère, torréfaction, café, longue et très agréable. bconley (351), Fern Park, Florida, USA Sep 22, 2009 Bottle. Smokey roasty malt smell mixed with slightly burned coffee. Deep malts mixed with rusty metal. This is awesome!! drowland (1360), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Sep 19, 2009 Bottle into a pint glass. The aroma is all coffee and sour soy sauce. The flavor is a hint of sour and coffee - almost like an American stout. Smooth and slick but high carbonation for the style. douglas88 (1556), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Sep 15, 2009 11.2 oz from the Boise Co-op. Pours a dark brown color with a massive light-beige head and loads of sticky lacing. The aroma is smooth chocolates, roasted malts, maybe some smoke. The flavor is nice; sweet chocolates and coffee, some light fruit and a pervasive earthy-smoke flavor. Sort of thin, but nice. Really, this is a porter not an Old Ale. davidm (126), Melbourne, Australia Sep 12, 2009 Bottle. Remarkable and original beer. The aroma gives chocolate, biscuits, and fruits of the forest. Flavour starts sweet, with nice bitterness in the background and a long finish. Looks good, black with an average creamy head with good length. Oily in the palate, medium to full body. planky84 (99), , Greater London, England Sep 11, 2009 Bottle from Utobeer market stall. Pours jet black with a nice long lasting beige head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, smoke. Flavours of coffee, caramel, dark chocolate, blackberries, raisins. Has a pleasently sweet, dry finish. hogan873 (317), Joliet, Illinois, USA Sep 9, 2009 Black as, well, old engine oil with a nice beige head. Malty, chocolate aroma begs you to take a sip. Smooth and absolutely delicious. Semi-sweet chocolate entry leads to a creamy full finish with bitter coffee and ash. One of the best beers I’ve tried in a while. Fred82 (343), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Sep 9, 2009 Bottle thanks to the SAQ ! Pours deep black with a big brown creamy head. Extensive lacing. Nose of roasted malt, porter like. A bit ashy/smoked. Some sweet chocolate as well. Taste is porter-like, some roasted malt, quite sweet. Finish is quite dry and a bit ashy. Not very bitter/hoppy.
