Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered.
A superb, rich, full-bodied beer derived from a 1970s homebrewing recipe. Wickedly smooth chocolate dominates the flavour, which is nicely balanced by the bitterness of the hops.

Bottle. Nice solid black colour. Aroma of roasted malt with roasted tastes and a bit of smoke maybe. Not a huge fan of dark ales, would be interested in trying it on tap however.

Bottle, Ale Cellar, Darlington. Very dark , virtually black with fading brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate. Big heavy flavour, prominently malt, dark chocolate and some fruit. Very smooth and rich. Aptly named. Get ya motor runnin baby.

330mL bottle: Opaque black body with generous amount (3 fingers) of brownish head. Beautiful lacing. Roasted malts and barley to the nose. Flavor is brilliant! Challenger hops, chocolate, roasted malt and roasted barley with hint of smoke, bitter lingering aftertaste is acidic but the palate is as described on the label: "Wickedly, wickedly smooth". This beverage is decidedly wickedly, wickedly wicked!

Roasted malt aroma, medium carbonation and head. Roasted smooth dark flavor giving rise to a nice chocolate flavor. Not a bad brew but definitely not worth 2.99 a bottle.

LCBO about $3 per bottle. Faint dark malty aroma. Black with thin foamy tan head. Very stouty, well blended, creamy dark bittter-sweet chocolate, cherry?, very smooth, not too dry, not too sweet. A little light on taste and body for me but a good beer none the less.

Draft - Victroia Gastro Pub - Black, creamy tan head. Deep roasted chocolate and mild coffee aromas lay on soft wafts of toasted dark fruits and pistachio. Hints of citrus pull forward upon warming. Very well balanced flavors of ashy chocolate and cherry fig coffee that ride a moderate citric hop punch. Medium bodied and smooth, soft carbonation, bittersweet finish. This one should not be missed. Well made with a nice complexity...

Poured into an english pint. 12 oz bottle. Pours a think black like the name. Smells like a fine scotch ale but with a bit of a porter smell. The taste is very unique. Much like the smell its very much a mix of a scotch ale and a english porter. Its neither as sweet and malty as a scotch ale or as bitter and robust as a porter, which makes this one rather special. Chocolate, caramel, toffee, dominate with a smooth bitter hop bite at the end and a lingering smoky coffee note. Very good!
