Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered.
A superb, rich, full-bodied beer derived from a 1970s homebrewing recipe. Wickedly smooth chocolate dominates the flavour, which is nicely balanced by the bitterness of the hops.

Bottle courtesy of Carlus12. Chocolate and coffee nose. Some roasted malts also present. Pours a dark thick beer. Taste is silky, malty, roasted elements. Some hops in the finish giving a bitter sweet tast overall.

Bottle- Black in colour with a vinous, biscuity roasted aroma with chocolate. Roasted, malty, chocolatey taste with a pleasant bitterness with chocolate and coffee being noted. Very nice.

About as black as black can be. No head. Not much aroma that I could smell. Roasty, coffee, and slight smoke. Finishes with very mild hop bitterness.

Black pour with minimal tan head (55degrees). Slightly woody and a tiny bit of chocolate, but mostly dark fruit in the aroma. Smooth sweet dark malt flavor. The cask aging to the special reserve really adds another dimension that this beer completely lacks. Still a great beer, but not quite as good.
