henrikb (1298), Aarhus, Denmark Aug 26, 2006 Black body, creamy beige head; Well this beer actually smells of used engine oil, but it could of cause also be read much fresher with green apples and a malty sweetness; Soft textured body, quite acidy but very simple; Quite dry finish, long and bitter, aromas same as nose but here mixed with a little tar. Alright, but very simple and to clean. thebeertourist (2753), Oslo, Norway Aug 25, 2006 Bottle. Dark brown, almost black with a small creamy beige head. Rich chocolate and espresso aroma, with smooth chocolate in the lead and roasted notes in the background. Complex bitter chocolate flavours, blending nicely with espresso and just a hint of berries. Dry finish. I would not call it an old ale, I think it is more of a member in the baltic porter family. redlight (1445), Winter Park, Florida, USA Aug 20, 2006 Rich malty aroma, chocolate, coffee, roasted malts. Pours black as oil! Very rich flavor, roasted malts, chocolate, some hops. Very nice. locarboy (115), USA Aug 19, 2006 from an 11.2 oz. bottle. Poured the color of used motor oil. Little to no head. Aroma of roasted malt, alcohol, dried fruit, piloncilo, and dark chocolate. Good dark malt flavor balanced by hop bitterness and a bit of a winey finish. Not as dark and roastey as a dry stout. Very nice beer. anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Aug 14, 2006 Bottle. Pours a black colour with a tan head. Roastd malty aroma with some hints of raisins. Roasted malty flavor with hints of coffee and chocolate. Malty chocolate aftertaste. muenster (339), Sevierville, Tennessee, USA Aug 9, 2006 Updated: Jan 19, 2008Pours black from a bottle. Nice tan head, great lacing. The aroma is roasted malt, dark fruit, and some smoke. Flavor is very chocolaty with coffee and a mildly hoppy, smoky finish. HenrikSoegaard (4265), Randers, Denmark Aug 5, 2006 Bottle. Creamy lightbrown good mostly lasting head. Black colour. Powerfull elegant aroma. Very nice caramellic/coffee flavor. Oily palate. Nice beer. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Aug 3, 2006 Updated: Sep 28, 2006Bottle. Pours like a quart of motor oil and has a thick, mocha colored head with sticky lacing. Aroma has hints of licorice, raisins, and molasses, very earthy. Flavor has the same qualities with a little bit of chocolate in the back end. Has some smoked, roasty notes in there as well.
