Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered.
A superb, rich, full-bodied beer derived from a 1970s homebrewing recipe. Wickedly smooth chocolate dominates the flavour, which is nicely balanced by the bitterness of the hops.

A little faint stoutish aroma. A nice beer, that seems to have a taste as cross between a stout and a porter. Some good chocolate in it as well. Nice.

Peat smokiness and small coco fill the nose. Flavours are smokey with some pepper. Mouth is watery. Better than the BA, but thats not saying much.

Poured black with a tan head that quickly diminished to hint of covering. Spicy aroma with a thin lightly carbonated texture. Flavor, light the whiskey cask age version, was a disappointment. While there was a hint of chocolate, what came through most was and earthy combination of ash and dirt – like drinking soy sauce with a bitter finish. As bad as this was, it was slightly better than the whiskey cask age version.

(Style 62/70) Bottle from Country Club Liquors, Bakersfield; Nose of chocolate, coffee, malts, and dark fruits; transparent dark brown, same shade but not opaque like old engine oil; flavor of smoky coffee, with a little sour finish.

Bottle. Nose-maple syrup, baker’s chocolate, hay, sawdust, coffee, slightly lactic. Dark chocolate colored with a few bubbles. Taste-cold coffee grounds, lactic, peaty smokiness, light chocolate, grassy. Not too bad. Better than the BA version.

Bottled. Black in colour. Minnor beige head, lacings. There is a chocolate like smoky aroma from this one with hints of caramel. The flavour consists of burnt malt and it’s quite dry. It has a sweet aftertaste, mainly of burnt malt.
