Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered.
A superb, rich, full-bodied beer derived from a 1970s homebrewing recipe. Wickedly smooth chocolate dominates the flavour, which is nicely balanced by the bitterness of the hops.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of tar, peat, smoke, a bit of caramel. Flavour is hard roasted malts, bitter chocolate, tar, coffee and hoppy bitter finish. Soft carbonation, smooth but watery mouthfeel. Light to medium bodied, still full of flavour. Very nice.

Intenso colore nero, molto denso.Cremosa e aderente la schiuma, ottima la persistenza. Complesso e morbido aroma di cacao, malto, liquirizia, alcool, legno affumicato.Sapore leggermente piccante, abbastanza vivace. Corpo pieno e morbido, con sentori di amaro e acidità in rilievo. Armoniosa e morbida in bocca, con note di legno, malto e cacao. Finale morbido ed equilibrato

330ml bottle. Pours pitch black with a tan, quickly disappearing head. Aroma is coffee-ish with sweetness, reminds me of some imperial stouts. Flavor is mainly kinda bitter with some coffee and chocolate underneath. In the bottle it says ’viscous, chocolatey, bitter’ which is basically what this is all about. A good beer nonetheless.

11. 2 oz. bottle. Pours black with slight ruby highlights and a decent sized tan head. Pretty good head retention. Nutty aroma with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, raisins, and a slight vinous note. Medium carbonation with a medium-rich mouthfeel. A little bit viscous. Rich roasted malt notes on the palate with coffee, chocolate, and caramel all playing their part. A little earth and walnut in there too. There is a nice touch of bitterness on the back end to balance out the sweetness. A little bit of smoke and peat come out as the beer warms. Medium-long finish with some lingering bitterness on the tongue. Overall, very well put together with just about everything in balance. Quite sessionable as well.

Pitch black pour with a thin off-white head. Aroma of smoke and sweet malt. Big roasted malt flavor, very savory. Chocolaty. A lightly bitter finish. Nice.
