4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a sexy black with a beautiful tan head. As expected there is an abundance of chocolate and coffee on the nose. Probably one of the easiest drinking porters I’ve ever had. Coffee, chocolate and hints of caramel all come into play. Just fantastic.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark brown/black appearance with a very minimal tan head. Roasty aromas, light coffee, chocolate, earthy. Has a smooth, oily texture with a rather fizzy carbonation. The taste starts sweet, dark chocolate turning into a dark roast coffee before slowly but surely getting hit by the bitterness of the hops. Very well balanced, my kind of beer. It fits the name.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A dark brown coloured beer with a weak tan coloured head. A rich and heady aroma, liquorice, dark chocolate and espresso coffee, plus a meaty, Marmite-like aroma. Medium mouthfeel. A rich mouth-filling, roasted malt taste, slightly sweet liquorice, chocolate and coffee. A slight smokiness then a smooth creaminess as suggested on the label. There is a touch of dry cereal towards the end. The finish continues with the dry cereal element.

24/X/14 - 33cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte) @ home - BB: X/2015 (2014-1244) Thanks to Erwin for sharing the bottle!
Clear dark brown to black beer, big creamy irregular beige head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: caramel, bit sweet, malty, hay, grains, bit fruity, not very roasted, actually. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: little sourish, fruity, mocha, cocoa powder, some caramel, soft bitterness, bit sweet. Aftertaste: bit of chlorine, pretty hoppy, coffee, some charcoal, hint of banana, bitter and dry.

About black body, beige head, crocheted lacings.
Aroma; dark chocolate, mocca coffee notes, cocoa, dusty hops.
Taste; dark chocolate, mocca coffee, cocoa, choco-liquorice, dusty dry hops back there. Nice body, half dry. A bit juicy finish with very dark fruits into the chocolate stuff. Isn’t it a porter?? Well, could be enjoyed as one anyway.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from 330mL bottle. Near black with dissipating tan head. Aroma of roast malt and dark chocolate. Same flavour, nice balance, flavours are a little light and subdued. A nice sipper from time to time, but not especially memorable in any way.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
It, called Black Ale vs Porter, is a lovely black colour and brings a 1 finger head of tannish foam with a careful pour. As the foam shrinks, great lacing left behind.
The smell is marvelous with smooth notes of chocolate, both sweet and bitter. Almost? get a hint of licorice.
The taste brings that chocolate with no hint of the licorice I noted in the smell. Nicely roasty to go along with the chocolate, this such a soothing, comforting beer to drink.
The silkiest of mouth feels, this is just bloody awesome. I’m glad I picked up a few bottles, both with the labels upside down and right side up.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Rich brew filled with roasted coffee, chocolate and a wee bit of tart cherry. Pleasantly clean on the palate with a long toasted bitterness in the finish.
