COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
Ingredients: Pale malt; Roasted barley; Oats; Washington Galena, Worcester Fuggles and Kent Goldings hops.
A superb, rich, full-bodied beer derived from a 1970s homebrewing recipe. Wickedly smooth chocolate dominates the flavour, which is nicely balanced by the bitterness of the hops.

The name might create disapointment for Imperial stout lovers, as there are far more "engine oil" like beers around. Just remember its a Scottish ale. My bottle opened in silence but poured with mellow carbonation, a small, lacy tan head and a nice coffee color. I smelled herbal, grass aromas, segueing to cookies, malt, and toffee. Full mouthfeel, rich delicately sweet caramel, raisins, coffee, chocolate and a refined nutty flavor I love in UK ales. Lasting, lightly bitter finish, sweet, but crisp and not at all syrupy.

11.2 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Pours a very dark brown color with a large brown head. Good head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, raisin, treacle, baker’s chocolate. The taste is chocolate, roasted malts, bitter hops. Medium bodied. Nice.

When you want to drink marmite blended with soya sauce. Slightly smoky, salty. I tried it with smoked duck filet. Paradise it was

330ml bottle. Pours a very dark reddish brown, with a thick brown head. Roasted aroma, chocolate, coffee, licorice, toffee, ashes. Dry, medium to full bodied, mid to high bitterness, balanced CO2. Roasted, quite astringent taste, coffee, licorice, ashes, earth, dark chocolate, caramel. Well balanced, rich and tasty. (2013-06-02)

Purchased at Craft Beer Cellar in Belmont, MA, enjoyed at my hotel on the last day of vacation in Bar Harbor, ME. Appearance is pitch black, relatively thick, with a thin white rim. Aroma of roasted chocolate malt, definitely toasty, smells great and simple. Taste goes down with a nice roasted malt profile, light burn, great chocolate notes, coffee presence, taste is fantastic. Really solid brew.

Coffee and dark chocolate notes on the nose and palate. Extremely complex flavor yet not overwhelming. Truly remarkable porter.

330 ml fra Vinmonopolet. Sort med lysebrunt skum. Aromaen domineres av kakao, med kaffe og hav i tillegg. Smaken er middels brent og ganske fyldig. Middels høy karbonasjon og gresslig bitterhet. God ettersmak. (Munkegata, 27.05.13)
