The aroma is fairly rich molasses, toffee, with hints of chocolate - good complexity. Slightly soft, with roasty accents, slight chewiness. Good, full, malty finish. BeerLimey (1873), California, USA

Very interesting bablance. Initial raisin malt drigts into a pasty chocolate and a mildly dry hop finish. A mild fruitiness sits in the background all the while. Aftertaste is lightly roasted. I’d probably pitch it to brown ale fans. jbrus (4916), Delft, Netherlands

Coffee flavor, thick start but thinner finish, some licorice, roasted, long lasting finish. Admiral (524), Schnecksville, Pennsylvania, USA

Malt, chocolate, raisins. Maybe some peat, but maybe that’s just me thinking "Hey! Scottish!" Oddly light-bodied for the style, kind of spritzy in a way that would probably be annoying if I was drinking it chilled. Good thing I’m not, eh? Finishes with grassy, oolong-like hops. Quite pleasing. fiulijn (7520), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy

Roasty malty taste. Pleasant roasty bitter aftertaste. Some sweet caramel maltiness sneaks in as the beer warms. A bit thin, but no real complaints. I'm shocked to see this is a Scottish -- I just assumed it was a porter. shintriad (698), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Well rounded, with notes of bitter cocoa, caramel, burnt malts, perhaps raisins. Mouthfeel is full and sticky ... I think a pint of this would be too much. Very enjoyable brew in one of my favourite styles. jsquire (2123), St. Marys, Ohio, USA

Creamy tan head that lasted. Light cocoa in the nose. Some chocolate and faint ash, with a sweet cocoa finish. The end showed a quick shot of hop bitterness and finished dry. Quaffable and enjoyable.
