Ingredients: Pale malt; Roasted barley; Oats; Washington Galena, Worcester Fuggles and Kent Goldings hops.
A superb, rich, full-bodied beer derived from a 1970s homebrewing recipe. Wickedly smooth chocolate dominates the flavour, which is nicely balanced by the bitterness of the hops.

Pours opaque brown with ruby heart. Roasty aroma leading to upfront sweetness and prominent roasty flavors with port notes and oxidative tones. Full, chewy mouthfeel. Finishes bitter and roasty. (from 2010 tasting notes BJCP study group.)

DIBBLE (86) - Worthing, West Sussex, ENGLAND - MAY 20, 2015
330ml bottle from Tesco Durrington. 8 months past BBE date of SEP 2014 on day of purchase!!! Dense roasted malty aroma. Very dark reddish tinged beer with brief tan head. Mild lacing. Thick smooth mouthfeel. Coffee like bitterness. Mild chocolate sweetness in the dark roast malt finish. Bit disappointed with Tesco and uncertain whether the beer is inferior for its maturity having not tried it before.

Appearance is black and completely opaque, a small beige head which quickly diminishes, leaving a foamy bubbly covering. Aroma- milk chocolate, tobacco, toffee and caramel, coffee, fudge, coffee. Taste- bitter coffee, dark chocolate, oat biscuit, caramel, biscuity malt, hint of smoke, lasting bitter finish. Fairly clingy mouthfeel. Very good.

330ml bottle which pours black with a deep red hue when held to light. Creamy tan head which is nicely resilient. Nose is roasted oats, bitter chocolate and a hint of coffee. Full bodied, great mouth feel, sweet and malty with velvety chocolate and vanilla giving way to bitter coffee. Really nice, long creamy, slightly bitter finish. Would buy again.

Black, tan head, nice lacing, and thin retention. Chocolate and roast aroma. Full bodied, roasted malt, chocolate sweet, and mild hop bitter notes. Great balance, nice dry notes, medium bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Needs to be in a 6 pack already. This one id’s over a year old and still holds a bit of a dark Carmel head. And the rich chocolate body is still quite inviting.

Ein recht spritziges und süffiges Old Ale. Gute Balance zwischen Bitter und süss. Schokolade beherrscht. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle, pours dark brown with a bubbly head with short lasting tan lace. Roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruits, medium bodied, oily texture thinning out to balanced lightly bitter finish, soft carbonation.

Roasted coffee and chocolate aromas; fair amount of bitterness that merges with the coffee flavors. Very dark brown, almost black. Small light brown head. Taste dominated by coffee bitterness; mild to moderate sweetness present as well. Fairly full bodied; texture is a bit oily with average carbonation; a long bitter sweet finish. Overall a quite good beer; I like the balance between the malt and hops with both quite prominent. Fairly complex.
