A superb, rich, full-bodied beer derived from a 1970s homebrewing recipe. Wickedly smooth chocolate dominates the flavour, which is nicely balanced by the bitterness of the hops.

Not sweet but by no means bitter either. Dark chocolate with some pleasant coffee notes, very mild smokeyness. I would give this a higher rating but its not that complex, does well at what it is.

-beer house, johannesburg- black with yellow head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and metal. Very fruity and slick palate. Aftertaste is coffee, sweet caramel, some noble hops and lingering sweet roasted malt finish. Overall: what a beer! Considering the low abv, it sure is a well made one. Delicious.

Smells like a bitter with some roasted malt. Lovely black color. Good full, balanced taste with a bit of coffee; not very complex but rather decent. One of the better porters I’ve tried though palate feels a bit thin. All in all quite nice.

Nice dark black with thin head. Has a full feel with smoky taste and smooth flavor with bitter finish. Hops are not overwhelming but noticeable and has a nice chocolate molasses smell and flavor.

Full black body with tan minimal and puncturing head, oily, smooth - the mouthfeel is great. Stron aroma of roasted malt, oak, coffee, darko chocolate and raisins. Taste is complex, full of dry roast and coffee, followed by chocolate sweetness and plums, then comes back to being dry in the coffee-ash aftertaste. A great english porter, gotta get some stronger and BA ones from Harviestoun.

Intensive chocolate and roasted aroma. Small beige head disappearing to ring. Almost completely black body. Great and intensive taste of roasted and coffee bitterness with pleasant addition of chocolate sweetness. Outstanding beer.
