COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
Ingredients: Pale malt; Roasted barley; Oats; Washington Galena, Worcester Fuggles and Kent Goldings hops.
A superb, rich, full-bodied beer derived from a 1970s homebrewing recipe. Wickedly smooth chocolate dominates the flavour, which is nicely balanced by the bitterness of the hops.

Appearance: About as black as a liquid can get, with a small rough tan head. Carbonation? I have no idea, there is a bit on the surface but it’s dark to see any inside. Aroma: Rich dark roasted malts. Strong coffee. Smoked wood chips. Also, a tiny bit like bacon, very weird. Taste: Smokey, roasted malts. Chocolate but more milky than dark. Light coffee, and also hints of kola nut. The aftertaste is bittersweet as the brewers suggest. Mouthfeel: Heavy, silky, smooth, creamy, and incredibly thick. Drinklability: Beautifully silky ale, with rich and moreish flavours. Most people who know anything about beer will have already tried this, if you haven’t, then you should.

Poured dark brown-black with one finger of frothy tan foam. Beautiful thick looking beer. The aroma had a rich sweetness of milk and sugar and plenty roasted malt flavors going on as well. A nice malt presence was felt immediately in the taste. Intense, but still smooth. A little bit of chocolate sweetness and maybe some stone fruits. Very drinkable for a relatively heavy bodied beer with good carbonation. Wow, I could do this one again soon.

From 330 ml bottle. It pours a solid black with a brown head. Vanilla, coffee and chocolate are evident on the nose. The taste has more chocolate and deep roast malt with a slight smoky note. Maybe a bit surprising but for all the big flavours, the beer is remarkably well-rounded. The palate goes on for a mile too. Very nice.

Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Roasted coffee aroma. Soft mouthfeel. The taste seems a bit neutral to me. It also goes away quickly without leaving an aftertaste. Very drinkable beer.

Bottle at freakin frog. Pours sickly deep dark brown, with thick oatmeal cap that doesn't last very long. Aroma is chocolate, molasses, and smoky. Taste is roasty, bitter chocolate with a raisin malt.
