gary07734 (390), Tyne & Wear, England Feb 23, 2009 Thick, black pint, it does rather look like engine oil! Malty and sweet drinking, with chocolate, raisens, grains and malt character and a nice bitter finish. Not much sign of the fairly high alcohol content. Very nice. motelpogo (4394), Plzen, Czech Republic Jan 5, 2009 rbesg07, cask at the guildford arms, edinburgh. pretty close to black, steady beige head, aroma of boot polish, dried stonefruits, some coffee powder, nutmeg and marzipan flavours, doughy and tasty rcasta (470), El Salvador Oct 18, 2008 cask desde maine
excelente ale pareciendose a una stout. oscura en el estilo de las inglesas como guiness sin lo dulce
bien, bien MiP (8792), Sønderborg, Denmark Aug 2, 2008 Cask. Almost black colour, brown hue. Very creamy light brown head. Hoppy aroma. Flavour is also hoppy, sweet, fruity and salty. Soft creamy mouthfeel. Quite easy to drink and is gone far too quickly. liinis (695), Helsinki, Finland May 20, 2008 black with brown small head. on cask medium but flat mouth feel. for that I prefer bottled. ante (2904), Stockholm, Sweden Apr 16, 2008 Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Pours out in a dark reddish brown colour with a low creamy tan-coloured foam. Malty sweet and a bit spicy aroma of caramel, dark chocolate, burnt bread, sweet licorice and mild pepper in the aroma. Medium-bodied with notes of dark chocolate, fudge, caramel, anise, black pepper, wood and nutshells. Smooth chewy mouthfeel. Long well-balanced finish of caramel, wood, chocolate sauce and spices. mirjukka (695), LOHJA, Finland Apr 15, 2008 cask at Gallows Bird Espoo
color:dark brown transparent nice airy head
Taste: dark malts. Not so sticky at all like bottled version. Nice combination of burned malts and bit sweetnes. Very easily drinkable and alcohol well hidden oh6gdx (8794), Vasa, Finland Apr 14, 2008 Cask@Pullman’s, Helsinki. Deep amber colour, mediumsized head. Aroma is wooden, mild roast, some caramel and mild nectary notes. Flavour is roasted malts, some caramel, wood and a lot of nectar. Aftertaste is mainly wooden with some mild notes of caramel. Not as good as the bottled one. Had a half pint of it the following day too, when the cask was otherwise similar, but the roasted and chocolaty notes had started growing a bunch, making the cask version almost as good as the bottled one.
