Brewed with lager malt and Hersbrücker and Challenger hops. Fermented with a lager yeast, but treated in every other way as a cask ale, save for a week or two of cool conditioning prior to release.

Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen. Bright golden colour. Floral and hoppy aroma. Ale-like mouthfeel and carbonation (very different from the bottled version). Slight bitterness to finish off. Refreshing and highly enjoyable.

Cask handpull, The Star, Bath. Pale gold with no head but lacing well. Faint whiff of lychee aroma. Silky lychee and grapefruit background, some almond stoniness, closing biscuit, vanilla, spoon of peat. Delicate, unlagery and good. Just has me longing for the more full-on citrus and biscuit of a decent GA, which sort of defeats the object..

This is the lager by which EVERY other lager has to be judged. Light straw colour, lovely fruity hop nose with clean malts and a complex palate. Dry, citrus aftertaste which lingers. Very little carbonation and served cool, which allows the full delicious flavour to come through. Carlsberg take note: this is DEFINITELY the best lager in the world.

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Slightly hazy straw coloured with a tight white head; wheaty aroma; full-bodied wheaty flavour, rather sweet; some good grapefruit bitterness, but leaving a syrupy sweet finish. A good cask lager.

Cask - The Bell (JDW), Norwich. Pours a clear, pale orange with a fine yet thick white head. Good lacing and fairly flat looking for a lager. Citrus and exotic fruits dominate aromas and flavours. Sherbety grapefruit hops on the tongue, some floral tones and a grassy finish. This is a lager? - Please sir, may i have some more?
