COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Regular. The bottled version has a separate listing.
Brewed with lager malt and Hersbrücker and Challenger hops. Fermented with a lager yeast, but treated in every other way as a cask ale, save for a week or two of cool conditioning prior to release.
Named after the misty mountain near Pitlochry. Has won numerous awards as a cask conditioned beer, including three times gold winner at the Great British Beer Festival.

A poor excuse for a lager. Does not differ very much from their golden bitters. Too many brews from this small brewery. Tropical fruits should be a trademark for them. Interesting but boring.

Cask conditioned @ JDW, Winchester. Light, citric, floral aromas. Quite lager like but with some soft fruity complexity.

Cask Conditioned at The Rose & Crown, Charlbury. Golden with a large head. Is it a lager? I wonder, it tastes warmer, fuller than the harsher malt flavours found in lager. There is a hoppy bitterness and a full body. A good beer, but maybe not true to style.

UPDATED: MAR 3, 2004 [Cask conditioned] Very hoppy aroma. Mild and pleasant flavour with a dry finish. A very good lager.

Golden larger colour, slight lacy white head. Big fruity aroma hits you straight away. I had taster yesterday and didn’t think much of it, I thought it was too ripe. The full sample was a lot better today. Fruity flavour the builds modestly to moderate bitter finish. Odd beer though, its called a larger that looks like an ale, its brewed in Scotland with being sold with a German name?!?

Cask: This is a lager? Great sweet fruitiness at the front like eldeberry. Definitely adds a Scottish feel to this classic style.

A festival favourite of mine. Quite an unusual lager - this has lots of character. There isn’t a great deal of hops bitterness this beer gets it flavour from the well balanced floral hops and smooth, sweet malts. Good stuff.

You wouldn’t guess that it is actually a lager. It has the typical hoppy nose of a really good cask conditioned ale and a fantastic complex palate. Only the colour seems to give it away.
