Commercial Description:
Cask: Regular. The bottled version has a separate listing.
Brewed with lager malt and Hersbrücker and Challenger hops. Fermented with a lager yeast, but treated in every other way as a cask ale, save for a week or two of cool conditioning prior to release.
Named after the misty mountain near Pitlochry. Has won numerous awards as a cask conditioned beer, including three times gold winner at the Great British Beer Festival.

(Cask@Gallows Bird, Espoo) Golden color with a very small, lacy head. Quite strong berry aroma. A flavor of berries with quite mild hopping, plus some strawberry and apple. Light to medium-bodied palate with pretty low carbonation. A middle-class brew in every aspect.

You wouldn’t guess that it is actually a lager. It has the typical hoppy nose of a really good cask conditioned ale and a fantastic complex palate. Only the colour seems to give it away.

Slight shady golden color, smal whit ehead. Nice fresh fruity, grape, pine and citrus hoppy scent, also malty sweet. Smooth mouthfeel, medium high, close to perfect, bitterness. Slight hint of coffee and roasted malt in the aftertaste. Subtle sweet and hoppy scent.

Well my notes are quite glorious on this one having all of one word, but fortunately I remember the beer, it making quite an impression being the first true cask lager I have tried. Floral hops, light tangerines and mild peaches in the aroma, a bit of mineral water. Flavor begins with some herbs, bits of honey and dough, light citrus, a brief pause for some yeast and then fades to water, light lemons and a bit of crisp lager yeast. I couldnt have picked this out as a lager, had I not known. Light body, watery, low carbonation.

Cask (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Real Ale Festival 2006) Golden, small head. Starts pleasant, citrusy and fruity. Alas something lagery takes over and makes it just a bit , erm, lagery.
