3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Harviestoun The Ridge) Bottle 330 ml at home, served into a tulip, ABV 5%
Pale orange on the body, slightly hazy, with a small and thin white head. Okay retention. Medium lacing on the glass.
Aroma has light malts, grains, light fruity notes of peaches, dirty straw.
Taste of grains, malts, straw, light fruity notes again, faint citrus. Good bitterness though both on the finish and the aftertaste, with long duration.
Medium thin body, average carbonation. nice dry feeling on the palate.
Not very impressed by this although I see myself drinking it out in the garden.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Light misty body and good head. Soft English pale ale style, herbal and flowery hops. Drinks very well, nice mouth feel, not too carbonated. Good brew, high quality stuff. Won’t blow your socks of though. (33cl bottle from Saveur Bière)

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Aroma is a little malty with grass, hay and a discrete hop presence. The taste is indeed like they say, a brit-style pale ale with a little more aggressive hops. Medium and mature malts with a little careful lovebite from the Amarillo hops. The brew doesn’t really take off in my opinion, but it is a good pale ale

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20

2.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20
Sandy gold and mildly hazy in the glass with a short-lived snow-white foam. There is honey, buttery brioche, lemongrass, marmalade and pear drops on the nose hinting at a sweet beer. Quite yeasty and slick on the palate with evident soapiness. Sharp, weedy bitterness in back with a hint of bitter orange peel and grass. Malt is muddled under the yeasty notes. Esters are subtle but there is a sourness to it that is not quite right. Not in fine form. A re-rate may be needed! (33cL, code L1212, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
33xl bottle from 5e Mondial de la Bière, bb09/2015. Reticent green & wet hops of a distinct UK bent (herbal, flowery) flow into a harnonious blend in taste of suave, rich biscuit malts, pillowy yeast and a subtle array of European, more than US, hops: wild berry, quince, pear, lemon curd rather than grapefruit or full-on orange peel. Very easy drinking, flavourful and characteristic enough as a transatlantic crossover considering its aimed APA style and mere 5%. (although the depth of flavour might be slightly short of "seismic").
